Have you or a family member experienced a brain injury?

A brain injury can cause dramatic and unforeseen changes to a family.

Family Therapy can help a family re-connect, communicate, bond, create memories and rebuild family life after a brain injury. It can also support people to process the trauma and help ease the emotional and psychological distress a brain injury can cause.

A Family Therapist can support an MDT working with an individual who has experienced a brain injury and ensure that the needs of the family have been fully explored and directly worked with.

Why choose a Family Therapist?

Family Therapy, or more precisely Systemic Psychotherapy, is an approach that explores relationships within families. Families can be affected by difficult experiences such as traumas and brain injuries and really struggle to find ways to move forward especially if a family member is left with long term injuries. Family Therapy can support families to stabilise after a brain injury and find the resources from within the family to support each other and their loved one through neuro-rehabilition and beyond. A Family Therapist can become a valued member of an MDT and complement the work of OT, SALT and Neuro-Psychologists, and support the team through training and supervision in how to best work alongside a family.
